It’s been a bit of a strange one this summer, everthing was at least 6 weeks late due to the long cold spell and snow. Invariably this had a knock on effect with courses that were booked in to shoot at the early part of the year. In fact I’m still playing catch up.

However one course which didn’t seem to be affected by the late winter was Trevose. I was lucky enough to get invited to play in their open invitation, it’s a course that’s been on my to do list so gladly accepted.

It’s a great family run venue and the open weekend is one not to be missed as long as your liver can put up with it.

Mostly speaking my golf was ok however nothing could have prepared us for the conditions on the final day. I can honestly say that I’ve never played in such heavy rain and strong winds. My waterproofs were soaked within 5 minutes, and you couldn’t mark your ball on the green as it would just be blown 20 ft away when remarked.

In a strange way it was fun battling against the elements, however when we got to the 18th I struggled to see the funny side of the round because of the conditions the competition was called off! Of course the teams still to go out were besides themselves with laughter! After a warm shower and a few beers in the bar I eventually came around and could see the irony in the situation.
