This was my first visit to the Belfry with Golf Monthly and Titleist. Several lucky forum winners were invited for the day to The Belfry to take part in a special Titleist ball fitting day. This included a one-on-one short game lesson with golf coach legend Jonathan Yarwood, a round on the Brabazon, a tour of the Titleist tour truck, club testing and ball testing.

We arrived the night before and had a few hours to kill, so we were lucky enough to tee it up on the back 9 of the Brabazon.

The 10th is a great risk and reward hole, we played off the medal tee just a few yards short of the championship tee, None of us came here to lay up so all 4 were armed with drivers.

The pin was 289 yards away with a slight into right to left wind.

I hit a good drive just left of the pin with a slight fade and was told I was in the water! However I thought I was safe. When we arrived at the green there was one ball just off the green to the right of the pin. The others were in the water! To my relief my ball had made the carry, however I now had a very tricky 45 ft downhill chip to the hole.

Because of heavy grass behind my ball I decided to take my 58 wedge and blade it towards the hole. It tracked all the way, slowing down just enough to catch the left side and drop in.

Needless to say at this stage I was ready to go back to the bar, but we played on and I managed to get a few shots as a reminder of evening.
