When Chris Turner from Trump International invited me to visit the course I couldn’t help but do a quiet little fist pump as I finished reading the email.

Aberdeen had been on my radar for several years, I heard great things about the many courses there, and last years Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen really whetted my appetite to make a visit.

My itinerary was to visit Royal Aberdeen first and meet up with my buddy Laurie Watson from the Links Trust who has been a member there since being a young boy.

However as I landed early into Aberdeen I had the morning to kill and decided to go to the Trump course first and have a look around.

I’m glad I did because as I was walking the back 9 I was approached by to guys in a buggy they introduced themselves as Donald Trump and his son Eric.

We had a great chat for about 10 minutes and talking about how the course had come on in the last 2 years and about some of the changes that had been made.

I was bowled over by the condition and layout, there isn’t a weak hole on the course and it’s easy to photograph.

I’m looking forward to my return visit and hopefully meeting up with Mr Trump again.
