Just recently back from Northern Ireland with Rich Simmons at Golf International where we were covering the Faldo Series at Lough Erne. I flew into Dublin from Gatwick. It was the day when Ireland was hit by 70 mile winds which was from the tail end of a hurrican and I can honestly say that it was the most worrying landing I’ve EVER experience in all of my years of Flying! It set the scene for a memorable trip. We arrived at Lough Erne at lunch time and went out to see the young finalist compete it the worse conditions you could imagine to play golf in. We were scheduled to have 2 hours with Sir Nick the next day but the unsettled weather put paid to that and we rescheduled for the next day. That evening the players were given a clinic by Rory McIlroy. Sir Nick was very busy with the tournament and also with various media commitments. Eventually we managed a half hour shoot with him minutes before we had to leave for our flights back to the UK. Considering he was being pulled from pillar to post he was brilliant to work with as was his very nice son Matt who was there helping out.
